La Selezione del Sindaco 2014
Because of all sorts of reasons this late overview
of this international wine tasting competition held in Bolzano
After a pleasant flight we arrived in Verona airport to be transported to Bolzano
Later in the evening was the gathering for the
instructions and organisation the judges commissions and to the tastings and
diner in the Hotel Laurin. Very nice diner.
So the next morning at 08:30 we met at the
Museion, Museum of modern and contemporary art where the tastings were scheduled
for this tree day’s.
This tasting had a large number of wines from all
over Italy and different countries
like Austria , Portugal , Luxembourg ,
Germany
After the poor lunches at the Museion caffè we
went to different wine houses like the Cantina Laimburg, very impressive cellar
under the mountain and used as shelter during the war. Also the wines ware
good. Nice diner buffet.
An other wine house we visited was Cantina
Elena Walch. I knew already this wine house for a number of years and the wines
we tasted this time ware very good to great.
Sadly enough someone of the organisation, not
from La Selezione del Sindaco, did not do his work properly and so the whole
visit was a disaster for most of us.
We ware divided in 3 groups, and 2 groups did
have to wait for 2 hours to visit the old cellar in 5 minutes and tasting of 3
wines in 15 minutes. Luckily like I said, the wines ware good.
Later that evening I received a mail with apologies
from them.
The results of the tasting ware great for most of the entries.
With 7 Great Gold medal, 57 Gold medals and 216
Silver medals, one can not complain. Although I can not see the purpose to
enter a wine, tasted 3 times from 3 bottles, and ending up as not tastable.
I would like to congratulate the producers of Italy , Portugal
and Germany with there Gold
medals, and the good wines from Campania
