The tasting witch started with a very "simple" Rosso di Montepulciano 2010, very light in color and body went on very well and was followed with the rosso from Ciarlana 2009, intense full body with fruit, little bit spicy but with a good length.
Then came some Vino Nobile from 2008; Dei, very good but not "pure"; Cavalierino riserva 2008 organic,for those who like organic wines; Boscarelli 2007 riserva, confirmation of a very very good winehouse, super; Il Greppo 2007 riserva, good wine, a lot of wood but nice fruit, a bit short; Fattoria di Palazzo Vecchio 2006 riserva, very nice, still young, very complex with a lot of fruit, souple tanines but a bit to much acidity and a strange aftertaste; Vecchia Cantina di Montepulciano Briareo 2006 riserva, nice wine but a lot of acidity and very short; Fattoria Del Cerro, Antica Chiusina 2006, very dark cherry color, lots of fruit and complexity in the nose as well as in the mouth, very long, a wine to meditate on, great.
After the conducted tasting,we could taste other wines from these houses.
- Luckily for Avignonesi the Rosso 2001 was better but still insufficient to my liking.
- Boscarelli with the Rosso 2010, Nobile 2009 and Riserva 2007, is still a name you can trust with any wine.
- Carpineto with Nobile Riserva 2006 and Sant Ercolano 2003, is good to very good.
- The Riserva 2006 from Dei was a very good wine; The Rosso 2010 is very simple and drinkable, the Sancta Catharina is out of this league for me because of the grape varieties.
- Fattoria Del Cerro with the Nobile 2009, Riserva 2007 and the Antica Chiusina 2006, even as a very big wine house, a monument of quality with any wine.
- IL Greppo, i did mis the Chianti 2010, but in reflexion to the antiprima tasting, it should be very nice, the other wines (nobile) ware good to very good.
- Poliziano 2009, very good and modern.
